What Happens When Email Security Has Gaps?

Missing or poorly configured email filtering, domain authentication, employee training, and threat monitoring can increase the risk of credential theft, payment fraud, account compromise, and data exposure.

Phishing Emails Can Expose Credentials and Data

Sophisticated phishing emails can evade conventional spam filters by imitating trusted senders and using services that appear legitimate.

BEC Can Lead to Fraudulent Payments

Attackers impersonate executives, vendors, or partners to redirect payments, steal credentials, or authorize fraudulent transactions.

Domain Spoofing Can Enable Email Impersonation

Without properly configured authentication and DMARC enforcement, attackers may send messages that appear to use your domain.

Social Engineering Can Create Risk Despite Training

Attackers use familiar names, urgent requests, and information gathered about the organization to make fraudulent messages appear credible, even to trained employees.

How Does ITS Help Reduce Email Security Risks?

ITS addresses phishing, BEC, and domain spoofing through email authentication, threat detection, monitoring, and phishing simulations where included. Available capabilities depend on your service package and selected add-ons.

Reduce Suspicious Emails Reaching Employees

Selected filtering tools inspect links, attachments, senders, and message content to identify suspicious email and reduce employee exposure.

Limit Unauthorized Use of Your Domain

SPF, DKIM, and supported DMARC controls help receiving mail systems verify authorized sending sources and identify direct domain spoofing.

Detect Targeted Impersonation

Selected tools examine sender behavior, message context, and other signals associated with executive, vendor, and employee impersonation.

Measure Employee Response to Phishing Tests

Where included, phishing simulations and reporting show how employees respond to test messages and where added training may be needed.

What Managed Email Security Services Does ITS Provide?

ITS provides email authentication, threat filtering, monitoring, phishing simulations, alerting, and reporting across supported configurations. Available services depend on your ITS package and selected add-ons.

Email Anti-Spoofing (SPF and DKIM)

ITS configures SPF to identify authorized sending servers and DKIM to verify signed messages, supporting stronger domain spoofing protection.

DMARC Enforcement

ITS deploys and manages DMARC policies that request how receiving mail systems handle messages that fail DMARC checks, helping reduce unauthorized use of your domain.

Context-Aware Email Filtering

Where selected, ITS deploys email scanning that evaluates message context, sender behavior, and other signals to detect attacks that standard rules may miss.

Phishing Simulation and Training

Where selected, ITS manages simulated phishing campaigns to measure employee responses, identify areas for additional training, and track changes over time.

BEC and Threat Alerting

Selected email security tools detect and report suspicious activity associated with BEC, impersonation, and other email threats. Alerting and response procedures depend on the service configuration.

Email Threat Reporting

ITS provides available reports on detected threats, message actions, and phishing simulation results to support security reviews and planning.

How Does ITS Managed Email Security Work?

ITS implements email security in three stages: authentication setup, threat filtering, and ongoing reporting and adjustment.

  1. 01Configure Authentication and Protection

ITS reviews your current email environment, configures SPF, DKIM, and supported DMARC settings, and deploys filtering tools appropriate for your package and selected add-ons.

  2. 02Filter Threats and Monitor Email Activity

ITS monitors email for phishing, BEC indicators, spoofed senders, and malicious content. Depending on the selected tools and deployment method, suspicious messages may be blocked, quarantined, flagged, or removed.

  3. 03Review Results and Update Controls

ITS provides available reporting on detected threats, policy performance, and, where included, phishing simulation results to help identify changes that may improve your email security posture over time.

How Much Does ITS Managed Email Security Cost?

ITS email security is included within qualifying Managed IT or Cybersecurity packages, which generally start at $125 per user per month. Advanced filtering and DMARC management may require additional add-on services.

Final pricing depends on your number of users, email platform, existing security controls, compliance needs, package, and selected add-ons. Schedule a meeting to receive a cost estimate based on your users, email environment, and selected services.

Coverage is organized across service packages:

  • Core:

Includes email anti-spoofing via Microsoft 365.

  • Secure:

optionally supports phishing simulations and security awareness training through Huntress SAT

  • Add-ons:

DMARC enforcement (OnDMARC) and AI-powered email filtering (Area1) are available as add-on services

How We Measure Success

We tune your email security stack against your own environment and work to reduce phishing and business email compromise over time, not just deploy a tool and call it done.

Rapid Breach Response

If we detect a suspected email compromise, containment is our immediate priority, backed by our security operations center.

See What Clients Say About ITS Cybersecurity Services

Hear from organizations that partner with ITS to reduce cybersecurity risk and strengthen protection across their business.

I think... to not adopt some form of advanced security these days would be incredibly foolish. The biggest benefit ITS provides is the weight off my shoulders knowing that they're involved, and we've prepared ourselves as best as we could for any cyberthreats. That component is the most important to us.

JP HalversonVice President, McQuarrie Associates

We had an issue with a ransomware problem, and our previous IT partner could not resolve it. It brought us to a standstill... so we reached out to ITS and they helped us with the issue.

Mark BreauningerDirector of Operations, The Synthetic Grass Store

ITS identified an MFA hole in a large-scale EHR system that had never been caught before. Had it not been for them, we would've gone live and unknowingly increased our risk. Their insight not only protected us, [but it also] helped four other facilities that implemented the same system after us.

Managed Email Security Services: Frequently Asked Questions

What is email security, and what does a Managed Email Security service include?

Email security uses authentication, filtering, monitoring, and phishing simulations where included to help reduce phishing, BEC, domain spoofing, and other email threats. A managed service may include SPF and DKIM configuration, DMARC management, threat filtering, alerting, simulations, and reporting based on the selected package and add-ons.

What is Business Email Compromise, and how can the risk be reduced?

Business Email Compromise, or BEC, is a fraud scheme in which an attacker impersonates a trusted person or uses a compromised account to request money, credentials, sensitive information, or banking changes. ITS helps reduce BEC risk through email authentication, filtering, monitoring, and phishing simulations where included. No single security control can stop every BEC attempt.

What is DMARC, and why does it matter for email security?

DMARC checks whether SPF or DKIM aligns with the domain shown in the "From" address and lets domain owners tell receiving mail systems how to handle messages that fail authentication. ITS offers managed DMARC through a supported add-on.

What affects email security deployment?

The deployment process depends on your email platform, current authentication records, selected services, number of authorized sending sources, and existing security controls. ITS reviews the environment before configuring authentication records and deploying supported filtering tools.

Who is ITS managed email security designed for?

ITS managed email security is suited for growing and regulated organizations that rely on email for business operations and need stronger protection against phishing, BEC, and spoofing. It is especially relevant for businesses that handle sensitive data, operate in regulated industries, or may need to meet email security requirements for cyber insurance.
