SUCCESS STORY

How Lyons Roofing Moved From IT Downtime to a More Reliable Managed Environment

As Lyons Roofing grew, aging servers and limited internal IT resources made everyday work harder. ITS helped modernize the company's infrastructure, move key systems to the cloud, and provide the ongoing support employees needed to work more reliably from the office or remotely.

THE CLIENT

Creating Customers for Life Since 1993

Lyons Roofing is a well-established roofing company with 30 years of experience serving customers in Phoenix, Arizona. As a growing business, they realized that they needed to upgrade their IT infrastructure to better manage their operations and serve their clients more efficiently.

At a glance

  • 30 years of experience serving customers in Phoenix, Arizona
  • Serving commercial and residential clients since 1993
  • IT started out as a one-man show, with one technician
  • Completely outsourced IT department, managed by ITS

However, they initially lacked the resources and expertise to manage their IT needs in-house, so they decided to seek the services of a managed IT service provider (MSP).

THE CHALLENGE

Growth That Outpaced the IT Environment

Lyons Roofing's IT environment had grown around a single technician and aging on-premise servers. As the company expanded, that setup became harder to maintain and increasingly disruptive when systems went down. Server outages affected core business tasks. Employees could lose access to data, quotes could not be sent, work orders could not be printed, and customer calls could not always be handled normally.

What needed to change:

Aging On-Premise Servers
Older infrastructure was becoming less reliable and contributing to recurring downtime.
Business-Critical Downtime
When servers failed, employees could lose access to the systems needed for quotes, work orders, and customer service.
Limited IT Capacity
A one-person IT model could no longer provide the breadth of support and strategic guidance the growing company needed.
Limited Remote Access
The existing environment was not designed to give employees flexible access to business systems outside the office.

WHAT ITS DID

Behind-the-Scenes of Their Managed IT Experience

Lyons then met with an MSP to manage their technology and was completely satisfied with their services. This firm ended up being acquired by ITS. “This caused us some concern at the beginning,” LaNue admitted, “because we had known all the technicians as well as the owner very well; we were concerned about this transition to a new company.” Luckily, they didn’t need to switch vendors. “ITS took the ball and ran with it and has been a wonderful, wonderful provider,” Holman explained.

  • A completely outsourced IT department
Lyons Roofing has a managed IT partnership with ITS. They’ve completely outsourced their IT department, and rely on ITS to take care of the day-to-day and long-term affairs of their network.
  • One integrated system
They’ve used ITS to manage all cloud services, QuickBooks information, and remote servers and create an integrated system for all their data.
  • The move off on-premise servers
“They helped us realize that having on-site servers was not actually benefiting us. ITS was critical in bringing us along the path to appreciate what going to the cloud would really mean.”
  • Laptops and a VPN, mid-pandemic
“ITS, during COVID, also helped us get laptops for our employees so they could work remotely. They set up the VPN so that we were secure.”
