Coming into the IT service management business, I realized how little I actually knew about servers in general. Being the nosy parker, I dived into Google and made my search. All I wanted was to find out what type of servers a business owner might need, and I was confronted by a whole lot of information about Discord servers and Minecraft servers I did not want.

I conducted a series of interviews with ITS CEO Tom Andrulis to find out more about managed cloud storage services and associated costs. I got a great article out of that, but it also got me thinking. Why do managed IT services cost so much, and what is the value in them?

I had only the foggiest idea of IT service management; certainly not enough to make a good argument for or against investing in it.

When considering a cloud contract, there are many things you need to consider as a business owner. If you ask, “What happens when my cloud server fails,” you are in the right headspace. You want to know the game plan when disaster strikes, and the answer hinges on two important aspects of managed cloud services: response time and recovery.

Cloud platforms are the new black when it comes to doing business. However, because it is technology, it will require some type of management. The question is how much will it cost?
